The FIA World Council, meeting yesterday at its headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, has approved the creation of a new group of competition cars, dubbed the “Rally5-kit”.
The origin of this new group lies in the Suzuki Swift that R-Technology has been developing over the last two years, and which will be the first homologated car in the new category.
Starting from the idea that was presented to the RFEDA at the beginning of 2022, its technical department has done an excellent job with the FIA to achieve this new regulation that will allow new vehicles to enter the world of rallying.
After intense development, the Suzuki Swift will now begin its homologation process so that, from January 2024, it will be able to participate in any rally with FIA regulations in the RC5 class.
Suzuki Motor Ibérica has been a fundamental part in this creation, and the work of the whole team, together with the drivers and co-drivers who have put their experience at the service of the project, has made it possible for the Suzuki Swift to become an FIA homologated vehicle once again. And from now on, it will be available to all the teams that want to enjoy it.
