In its recent Rally Newsletter, the FIA discusses the new Rally5-kit category. In a Q&A with Andrew Wheatley, the FIA’s director of road racing, he says the Rally5-kit category is crucial to the future of grassroots rally development as well as a fantastic opportunity for national federations to increase the number of licenses.

It is also confirmed that the Suzuki Swift Rally 5port, developed by R-technology with the support of Suzuki Motor Ibérica and the Real Federación Española de Automovilismo, will be the first Rally5-kit homologated vehicle in early 2024 and will set the course for other federations wishing to develop the category.
